Founded in 1968, the Brotherhood Crusade's principal mission is remove and/or help individuals overcome barriers that deter their pursuit of success in life and facilitate opportunities for a better quality of life by effectuating improved health & wellness; facilitating academic success; promoting personal, social and economic growth; providing access to artistic excellence & cultural awareness; increasing financial literacy; and building community agencies & institutions.

The Brotherhood Crusade provides direct programs and services to those who need it most in our beautiful city. We believe Los Angeles can be a safe, thriving, culturally relevant and inclusive community that provides all residents equitable access to human and social services and continually improves their quality of life.

Who are we?

Who are you?

If you care about young people, if you care about giving back, if you care about the community and want to make a difference!

Brotherhood Crusade needs partners like you to bring life changing programs and resources to families and individuals in need.

Critical Issue

An astounding 35% (350,000 out of 1,000,000 residents) of the population of South Los Angeles is comprised of children under the age of 18, which is the highest concentration of children in Los Angeles County, and nearly triples the concentration in many regions of the County as well as throughout California.

Services Provided

Given this disproportionate predominance of children and youth, Brotherhood Crusade focuses a majority of its efforts on addressing the unmet needs of children, youth and young adults (which also includes addressing the needs of their families and circles of influence). Our flagship initiative, the Youth Development Program, allows us to reach over 30,000 high- risk youth annually and serve more than 1,500 participants daily.

As a result of this focus and corresponding expertise, the organization has developed programming that impacts the entirety of Los Angeles County. Indeed, Brotherhood Crusade’s countywide efforts combine direct services and advocacy with systems and policy change to improve conditions for all youth with a focus on underserved and disenfranchised populations.

The following goals ensure that all Los Angeles County youth are provided opportunities to succeed in school and in life:

  • Ensure youth have strong and positive role models in their lives.

  • Improve the academic performance of youth and their families.

  • Improve socio-cognitive and relationship skills of youth and their families.

  • Improve the health outcomes of youth and their families.

  • Improve access to safe pro-social environments and basic services.
