Investing in API Communities
Happy Asian Pacific American Heritage Month! APCF is proud to support API communities through our annual Operating Grant program. Announcing APCF’s 2021 Operating Grantees APCF remains committed to supporting API communities during the twin crises of the COVID-19 pandemic and recent increase in anti-Asian violence.
APCF remains committed to supporting API communities during the twin crises of the COVID-19 pandemic and recent increase in anti-Asian violence. As we believe our communities are best served by nonprofits who speak their language and provide culturally responsive programs, APCF is proud to announce this year’s Operating Grants:
This year’s grantees represent a diverse array of services and programs, including small business support, public health, youth leadership, civic engagement, senior services, mental health, conflict mediation, and environmental justice. Many have provided essential services during the pandemic, including food, PPE, testing, and vaccination, as well as outreach and support on anti-Asian hate incidents. Collectively, these 14 nonprofits speak 20 API languages – Bengali, Cantonese, Cebuano, Gujarati, Hindi, Ilocano, Japanese, Kannada, Korean, Mandarin, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Samoan, Tagalog, Tamil, Thai, Tongan, Urdu, and Vietnamese – in addition to English and Spanish.
Thanks to funds raised from thousands of donors through our workplace giving programs, APCF has funded smaller nonprofits serving local API communities through our Operating Grant Program. Since 2017, APCF has invested over $400,000 in unrestricted funds along with extensive training resources for each grantees’ board through the Board Leadership Program hosted by APCF and AAPA (2021 Operating Grantees’ board members pictured above).
